Antiques and Hardware rental for Set Design

Architectural Accents opened its doors in 1981, and shortly after it became a popular source for the set designers of the growing film industry in Atlanta, attracting important productions such as Dead Poets Society and My Cousin Vinny. It’s been 30 years since, and we’ve had the privilege to work on over 60 movies filmed in Georgia and it’s surroundings.

Set designers come to us looking for period pieces, we help furnish old buildings with hardware and other fixtures to bring them to life, or provide architectural elements that will create the right atmosphere for a scene. On the movie A Good Year, our 1800 French fountain was used to recreate a farmhouse in the South of France. In the TV series Sleepy Hollow, they used several of our furniture pieces (and even some of our drawings!) to create the perfect quarters of an eccentric scientist of the late 18th century.

After a hiatus in the early 90’s, the film industry in Georgia is growing again, and it seems like every week we are contacted by scouts and designers working on film and television. One of the latest requests – from a movie we are not allowed yet to disclose – was a commission for a bespoke stained glass window, that displays a special symbol associated with one of the characters.

Antique rental is a big part of what we do for the film industry, but it does not come without a bit of consulting and design input for which our experts are readily available. Drama, action, horror, musicals, we’ve done it all. Below are some of the titles we’ve participated in throughout the years, so next time you see some of these movies, you can try to guess where our inventory can be found. (Dr. Strange anyone?)
